Civic Engagement at Yale

At Yale we value the importance of civic engagement. Yale supports students so that they may participate fully in democratic processes. Yale’s Committee on Student Civic Engagement is charged with collaborating and devising pathways and best practices for student voter registration and turnout, including outreach to traditionally low turnout groups, support for strategies aligned with the “ask every student model”, creating space for student civic dialog outside of voter registration and voter turnout, and promoting student civic engagement. Yale also participates in the ALL IN: Ivy League Campus Democracy Challenge, a national nonpartisan program that aims to increase student voting rates and to help students grow as active and informed participants in our democracy. Yale has established guidelines for students, faculty, and staff who opt to engage in political campaign activities to ensure that campaign activities at the university follow federal and state law. The links below provide more information about university policies, guidelines, and resources on free expression, political campaign activity, and civic engagement and about the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge.

**Update** For registration and absentee ballots requiring notarization, students have access to free notary services at the ID Center located at 55 Locke Street.
